THERE’S ONLY ONE SCRAPPERS DAY AND IT’S FOR JOSEPH BRANT
On Saturday, June 10, 2006, Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, in partnership with sponsors Posner Industries, The City of Burlington and the Aldershot Lions Club – a new community sponsor, hosted its 16th annual Scrappers Day at Sherwood Forest Park (east end of Fairview Street) in Burlington from 10 am to 3 pm.
Scrappers Day is an excellent opportunity for people in the community to get rid of any unwanted scrap from their houses, garages and backyards. Car batteries, tire rims, bicycles, lawn mowers, BBQ, stoves, washers, dryers and sinks are just some of the valuable items wanted for Scrappers Day.
Fred Posner of Posner Industries said: “We need the community to support Joseph Brant’s campaign to Bring Dialysis to Burlington. What a great thing way to help people who need this life-saving equipment. All you have to do is clear out your garage and get rid of your scrap metal. It’s that easy.”
The scrap metal will be collected and removed from site by Posner Industries with all proceeds going directly to the Joseph Brant Bring Dialysis to Burlington Campaign. This campaign is a $500,000 fundraising effort to have a 24-station dialysis unit located on the lower level of Joseph Brant’s Wellness House facility in north Burlington. For dialysis patients who currently travel out of the community to get this life-saving care, this treatment is a necessity.
Glass, garbage and hazardous waste such as propane tanks and tires will not be accepted. Nails and aluminum pop and food cans must be bagged. Commercial donations are welcome.
