Breast Cancer
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and an opportunity for all of us to thank a Burlington constituent for his work in raising money to fight this disease.
Breast Cancer Health Fund of Canada and Clothing for Charity ltd. work together in order to provide clothing to those in need as well as to earn money to go towards breast cancer research and support. Clothing for Charity ltd. is the company with the green clothing collection bins.

We only place our bins with the permission of a manager, supervisor, etc. and we pride ourselves on keeping our bins and the area surrounding them, in mint condition!!

The boxes are serviced depending on the productivity of a location. A bare minimum would be that the bin is emptied 3 days a week. If the bin is very productive or if there is garbage surrounding the bin we will visit 6 times a week. Also, if a problem were to arise and the box needed to be serviced you are always welcome to call and we will send someone out to it ASAP.

The clothes collected from the boxes venture to many different places. The new and excellent quality clothes are sent out to women's shelters in our surrounding areas.

For example, Halton Women's place Burlington and Milton,
Interim Place Oakville, Interval house Hamilton, Nova Vita Brantford, and any where else if needed.

The shelters place orders on a per client basis, sometimes these women must leave their houses immediatley with their children and can't bring any clothing with them.

They send us sizes, preferences and any special clothes required for the client and we have our drivers deliver them out. Also, we work with the Hamilton burn unit and bring bags of clothes to those who have lost everything in fires.

The rest of the clothing is sold to textile distributers and that is where we get the money for the Breast Cancer Health fund of canada.

We have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to hospitals throughout ontario for mammogram machines and other types of diagnostic machines.

The beauty of hosting one of our bins is there is no work for you and you manage to help our organization and a worthy cause by simply allowing us to place a bin in your parking lot, or on your property. "we are fully insured and there are no catches"

We sincerely hope you will consider in helping us to help those in need and crisis. As mentioned above any one of our partners and associates would be more than willing to speak to anyone with any concerns. Let us know if you's like to view some of our many reference letters.

Again thank you for considering us ....

Fact:
181,646 women and 1,826 men were diagnosed with breast cancer*†
41,619 women and 379 men died from breast cancer*†
Ten years ago, Paul DeKort founded Clothing for Charity, whose bins collect used clothing donations. Clothes are distributed free of charge to women's shelters or sold to textile recyclers, with a substantial portion of the proceeds donated to the Breast Cancer Health Fund of Canada.

Clothing for Charity has donated over $100,000 to Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington for it to buy a breast cancer diagnostic machine.

Mr. DeKort has also provided substantial assistance to an awesome Burlington organization: Breast Cancer Support Services. His recent donation of $175,000 enabled BCSS to purchase a secure and welcoming home from which to operate.

I ask everyone to please join me in thanking Mr. DeKort for his outstanding efforts to make a real difference in the fight against breast cancer.
